Take Stock in Children

The Henson Fund’s partnership with Take Stock Sarasota reflects our commitment to removing barriers and creating meaningful pathways to postsecondary success for students in our community.

Through the Henson Scholars Program, the Henson Fund provides full-tuition scholarships for two years to students who are often first-generation college students, first-generation high school graduates, and/or from low-income households. These scholarships provide students with an important foundation for pursuing higher education and the opportunity to seek additional financial support for the remaining two years if they choose to pursue a four-year degree.

The Henson Fund recognizes that tuition is only one of the many barriers students can face when transitioning to college. In partnership with Take Stock Sarasota, we helped develop the Key College Essentials program to provide students with the practical resources they need to begin college with confidence. Support may include technology, dorm and bedding essentials, storage supplies, college course materials, and other items that can quickly become significant financial burdens for students and their families.

The Henson Fund also provides funding to help Take Stock scholarship recipients with housing and meal plan expenses. By addressing these essential needs, we help ensure that students are not only able to enroll in college, but also have the resources and support necessary to persist and succeed.

We believe that talent and determination should not be limited by a student’s financial circumstances. Our partnership with Take Stock Sarasota allows the Henson Fund to invest directly in students, remove barriers to opportunity, and help more young people pursue their educational goals while building a stronger future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
